An apicoectomy, also called root-end surgery, is a microsurgical procedure performed when infection remains near the tip of a tooth's root after root canal treatment. The infected tissue is removed, and the end of the root is sealed to promote healing and preserve the tooth.

Many cracked teeth can be successfully treated, especially when diagnosed early. Treatment depends on the location and severity of the crack and may include root canal therapy followed by a protective crown. Early evaluation provides the best chance of saving the tooth.

Most dental emergencies are best treated by a dentist or endodontist. However, if you have swelling that affects breathing or swallowing, a high fever, or significant facial swelling, seek immediate medical attention before contacting our office.

In most cases, yes. Root canal treatment is performed using local anesthesia, allowing patients to safely return home after their appointment. If sedation is used, someone may need to drive you home.

Mild tenderness or sensitivity for a few days is normal following root canal treatment. Most patients return to normal activities the same day or the following day. We will provide detailed post-operative instructions and remain available if you have any questions during your recovery.
