Specialized Treatment Options
Understanding Your Care
Endodontics is a specialized area of dentistry focused on diagnosing and treating diseases and injuries involving the dental pulp—the soft tissue inside a tooth containing nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue.
The pulp can become inflamed, infected, or damaged because of deep decay, trauma, cracks, or previous dental treatment. Endodontic care may help relieve symptoms, treat infection, and preserve the natural tooth.
Endodontists complete additional specialty training beyond dental school and focus on procedures such as root canal therapy, retreatment, and endodontic microsurgery.
Preserve Your Natural Smile
Whenever clinically appropriate, preserving a natural tooth can support comfortable function and long-term oral health.
Although not every tooth can be preserved, specialized endodontic care allows many damaged or infected teeth to be treated rather than extracted.
Comprehensive Specialty Care
Eastlake Endodontics provides comprehensive diagnosis and treatment using advanced imaging, specialized instruments, and microsurgical techniques.
Root canal treatment removes inflamed or infected pulp, cleans and seals the tooth, and helps preserve its natural structure.
A previously treated tooth can sometimes develop new disease or fail to heal as expected. Retreatment may give the tooth another opportunity to heal.
When nonsurgical treatment cannot resolve inflammation or infection near the root tip, endodontic microsurgery may be recommended.
Early diagnosis can help determine the extent of a crack and whether treatment may preserve the affected tooth.
Prompt evaluation following an accident or sports injury can improve the opportunity to protect an injured tooth.
Severe tooth pain, swelling, infection, and dental injuries may require prompt diagnosis and treatment.
Specialized evaluation helps identify internal or external root resorption and determine whether treatment is needed.
Internal bleaching may improve discoloration affecting a previously treated tooth from within its internal structure.
Advanced Diagnostics
Our practice uses modern technology to support diagnostic accuracy, treatment planning, clinical precision, and patient comfort.

Patient Questions
Learn what to expect before and after specialized endodontic treatment.
Modern root canal treatment is intended to relieve pain caused by an inflamed or infected tooth. With local anesthesia, many patients describe the experience as similar to receiving a routine filling. Some temporary tenderness may occur afterward.
Many root canal procedures are completed in one or two appointments. The number and length of visits depend on the tooth, diagnosis, and complexity of treatment.
A crown or another permanent restoration is commonly needed to protect a root canal-treated tooth and restore normal function. Your endodontist and general dentist will explain the restoration recommended for your tooth.
Not every damaged tooth can be preserved. However, modern endodontic treatment, retreatment, and microsurgery allow many teeth to be saved that might otherwise require extraction.
