Sterilization: Protecting Our Patients

Sterile Rubber GlovesSterilization Limits Exposure to Germs and Bacteria

During regular day-to-day life, germs and bacteria typically get a bad rap. When sterilization gets taken too far, we’re missing out on the benefits of a healthy and tested immune system.

However, when it comes to dentistry and any medical facility, nothing could be further from the truth. One of the chief concerns is preventing disease and infection from spreading from patient to patient. When we’re working with teeth and gums, it’s at the top of our minds. We want to limit exposure at all costs.

That’s why infection control is such an important part of our routine. And you can rest easy that we don’t take it lightly!

When you come to our office, you’ll probably notice all the things we’re doing to keep you safe. It’s not only required by law, but it’s in the best interest of patients and team members to have a safe and sterile environment.

Here’s what that means:

  • We use rubber gloves during cleanings and treatments
  • Each workstation is broken down and thoroughly sterilized between each patient.
  • All instruments are steam cleaned in our autoclave unit. The autoclave is also routinely tested to ensure its effectiveness.
  • All surfaces are cleaned and wiped down, and hoses and water sources are routinely flushed and sterilized to keep bacteria, mold, or other microbes from forming.

You see, when it comes to sterilization, nothing is more important to our practice than our patient’s well-being. We’re here for your treatment; exposure to germs isn’t part of the deal.
